Biće više planiranja i više dugoročne stabilnosti i ide u smeru “zatvorenog” sistema.

Generacija?

Kako usklađujete vaš privatni i poslovni život?

Emilijano: Na početku je bilo teško. Radio sam 12-15 sati dnevno svakog dana u nedelji od ponedeljka do nedelje. Sada imam malu devojčicu i želim brinuti i o njoj.
Uživam u nekim danima “odvojenim” od košarke i glasina i to mi pomaže, plus u životu imam mnogo drugih zanimanja poput čitanja i muzike.

Kako izgleda vaš radni dan, a kako slobodni?

Emilijano: Sad imam nekoliko slobodnih dana.

Ponekad mi pišu svaki dan i pitaju me jesu li sve glasine na tržištu istinite.

Šta biste savetovali novim ljudima u ovoj profesiji i novim portalima?

Emilijano: Budite ponizni. Nije lako.
Gradite odnose, radite svoje i budite dosledni.

ENGLISH VERSION:

Summer is approaching, the transfer market is opening, and that means only one thing – Emiliano Carchia and Orazio Cauchi, better known as Paxer, will have a lot of work to do. These two Italians have been “targets” of constant issues related to exclusive transfers in Europe for years. Emiliano has been the director of Sportanda, the most famous basketball portal in Europe, for 10 years. Paxer was a member of Sportando for a while, but left the site due to private obligations. However, he did not neglect his contacts and sources, so we will read him again on the new site that will be launched soon, which he himself exclusively revealed for our portal. The two of them were very happy to accept our invitation to be the first interview for our site, and we doubt that anyone would be more relevant for the new portal:

What is your opinion about new Eurocup format?

Emiliano: I think it is just a way to make a kind of mini EuroLeague and convince teams not to join BCL.
Paxer: I like the idea of the licenses and the possibility to have more home games for every team but I don’t like the playoffs system with the single game matchup, I would have preferred playoff series like in the NBA.

Do you think this new closed format is better than the old one, when European basketball had similar model as the football Champions League, where placement was achieved based on results in domestic competitions?

Emiliano: I don’t think it is better. I liked more when in EuroCup there were kind of sports results to consider and not like a mini EuroLeague.
Paxer: I don’t think it’s necessarily better than the previous one but it’s gonna give more stability to the competition, especially to the clubs with licenses. There’ll be more planning and more long-term stability and it goes into the direction of a “closed” system.

Who is your favorite in the Euroleague F4?

Emiliano: As Italian, I say Olimpia.
Paxer: I think Barcelona is probably the strongest team, but Efes is also gonna be a very serious contender.

Who is your favorite basketball player, coach and generation?

Emiliano: Favorite player – Achille Polonara; Favorite coach – Andrea Trinchieri; Favorite generation –  Italy that won eurobasket 1999 and silver medal at Olympics(Myers, Marconato, Basile, Pozzeco, Bulleri, etc…).
Paxer: My favorite all time basketball player is Allen Iverson, the current one is Joel Embiid. Favorite coach probably Rick Carlisle. Generation? Probably early 2000.

Who is your favorite basketball player and coach from this area?

Emiliano: My favorite player is Nikola Jokic and coach is Aleksandar Dzikic.
Paxer: From the Serbian area my favorite player is Bogdan Bogdanovic, coach Zeljko Obradovic.

What is your opinion about future of adriatic basketball, because of situation in European basketball?

Emiliano: The future of sports is for rich teams. So money are becoming the most important factor. If teams like Partizan or Crvena Zvezda find money they will be in the elite. If not they have to hope every year to play in a top competition.
Paxer: Financially speaking, it’s gonna be very hard because there’s not enough money available. But I still consider ABA Liga as one of the best places to help a young player develop and becoming a better athlete. The level of basketball culture is still extremely high.

What is your first association with Serbian/adriatic basketball?

Emiliano: Misko Raznatovic. The first that believed in Sportando more than 10 years ago.
Paxer: The games between Italian & Serbian NT in late 90’s-early 00’s.

What is your opinion about Serbs and Serbia?

Emiliano: “Crazy” for basketball and sports. Also, Emiliano added something else, but it is known to the editorial office (laughs).
Paxer: They’re incredible, their passion for the game is just unbelievable and I’m happy to say that I have several friends in Serbia. Some fans on Twitter are a bit wild(laughs).

What do you consider the most important when it comes to sports portal, considering that you are very popular on social networks(Twitter, Sportando)?

Emiliano: To be always on the news and most important to be reliable.
Paxer: The most important thing for me is being reliable and having a clear picture of the audience you want to reach. And of course not spreading fake news.

How much pleasure, and how much stress everyday contacts with players, clubs or agencies around the world bring?

Emiliano: During summer and market time is funny. Sometimes is boring. Don’t know how to explain. After a lot of years the passion is still high but not at the same level as when it all started but always trying to do my best everyday.
Paxer: I think that the best thing in this environment is the network of people that you can build. I’m lucky to say that I have friends & people that I trust in a lot of countries and coming from a small town in Sicily that’s great. The majority of the stress comes from choosing who trust and who not and dealing with some “annoying” people in the business, mostly agents.

How you adjust your private with business life?

Emiliano: At the beginning it was tough. I used to work 12-15 hours per day every day of the week from Monday to Sunday. Now I have a little girl and I want to care also of her. But I have guys that are helping me a lot as Dario, Nicola, Ennio, Alessandro and Matteo.
Paxer: I think in the previous years it was much more difficult for me to balance private & business life but now I think I found the right level. I enjoy some days “disconnected” from basketball and rumors and that helps, plus I have many other interests in life like reading & music.

How does your work day look like, and how a day off?

Emiliano: Now I have some days off. At the beginning I counted that for like 4 years I have written at least one news a day (knowing that the minimum maybe was 20/30 news per day and not only one). In my spare time I always try to play padel. The fastest growing sports in the world.
Paxer: Considering that as of right now basketball isn’t my main job, I use the spare time to gain informations, texting & calling sources and trying to stay on the news as much as I can. The day off usually is all about listening to good music, mostly electronic & hip hop, watching tv shows and drinking some good wine.

Is journalism the job you have always wanted, or your dream job is from another business?

Emiliano: Yes. But when I was younger my dream was to write about football.
Paxer: I think it’s fair to say that journalism is kind of my dream job and maybe one day it’ll become also my main job, who knows. I’ll soon be a part of a new basketball project and I’m excited for this new opportunity.

Are you impressed that people find you relevant, even though it can often be exhausting?

Emiliano: I like it. I like when my followers increase in numbers. Sometimes they write me every day asking me if all market rumors are true. That is a bit tiring.
Paxer: To this day for me it’s still amazing that a lot of people look at me as a relevant reporter, it means a lot coming from a very small town and far away from the “center” of basketball. The amount of support that I receive is crazy and I’ll always be grateful for that.

What would you advise to new people in this profession and new portals?

Emiliano: Be humble. Don’t get offended if people on internet offend you. Work hard. It is not easy. It is like a jungle. Everyday there is a new little Shams(Shams Carania) or little Woj(Adrian Wojnarovski) that appears on internet ready to break news (99% of the times fakes).
Paxer: My advise would be: be yourself, be passionate and don’t chase the breaking news, those will come and go. Build relationships, do your thing and be consistent. No fake news, no click baiting, that shit will never be cool.

On this occasion, the telesport.rs portal thanks Emiliano and Orazio for their time! As we said, summer is approaching, and they will be there as always.
