Različitog su temperamenta, ali imaju posvećenost prema onome što treba da urade. Nije bitno da li igraju fudbal, tenis ili karte, njihova ideja je da pobede. Po njima je pobednik onaj koji sa strašću radi to što treba da radi. To im je zajednička filozofija. Za razliku od Novaka koji je život posvetio telu, Dijego nije imao nikakav odnos prema telu. Uživao je u svemu što može telo da ruinira. Druga njihova zajednička karakteristika je spremnost da poslušaju onog s kim razgovaraju, bez obzira o kome je reč. I kod Đokovića i kod Maradone primetio sam da te gledaju u oči kad razgovaraju s tobom i da zaista slušaju šta imaš da kažeš. Kod većine nije tako, razmišljaju o onome šta je njima na pameti, a to što ti govoriš, prođe im kroz uši.
Kad pogledamo njihove karijere veliko je pitanje ko je više uticao na sportski svet. Argentinac je u prednosti s te strane da je fudbal popularniji sport, srpski teniser već sada ima mnogo dužu karijeru.
– Dijego je bio u prednosti, jer je fudbal mnogo popularniji od tenisa. Novak je u velikoj prednosti, jer traje duže na tronu. Kad saberete sve Đokovićeve nedelje kao broja jedan, to je broj godina koji vam treba da završite pravo na nekom svetskom Univerzitetu, plus dve godine magistarskog rada i još godinu stažiranja u ozbiljnijoj američkoj advokatskoj kući. Opet će to biti brže od broja sedmica koji je Nole proveo na prvom mestu. Dijego je nešto drugo, kao meteor. Njegova ruka, Božja ruka ostavila je bljesak, istorijski događaj, koji će se večno pamtiti. Uvek je delovao kao bljesak, za razliku od Novaka koji ima konstantnu svetlost. To je paralela između njih dvojice.
Podjednako kao po talentu i sportskim dostignućima, poznati muzičar Đokovića i Maradonu ceni kao ličnosti.
